Mel Urbach
The son of a Holocaust survivor, Mr. Urbach devotes a significant portion of his legal practice to Holocaust Restitution, Property claims in Poland, Banking Claims, International Law, Arbitration, Mediation and more recently the recovery or stolen artwork and artifacts.
He has many years of experience in navigating difficult claims ranging back to WWII and more recently WWI. He is currently working on settling complex Holocaust matters on behalf of clients world-wide. He associates with a network of experienced international research professionals and lawyers to resolve claims and bring justice after many decades.He has assisted hundreds of Holocaust victims obtain restitution and compensation in a large number of cases and has actively participated and assisted in recovering several billion dollars for WWII victims. He filed several class action lawsuits on behalf of his clients including banking and slave labor claims and has been a member of the Executive steering Committee. He has met and meets with leading diplomats, regarding restitution and compensation issues. Mel has testified before the Senate Banking Committee to advocate for the rights of Holocaust survivors, and has addressed the Conference on Holocaust Era Assets, hosted by the U.S. State Department. He spoke before the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington in December 1998, which was attended by 44 governments including Poland. He attended the Gold Conference in London in 1997.
Mr. Urbach represents clients with domestic and international Holocaust claims, banking law, looted assets, art and real estate claims and is available for private and confidential consultations at his mid town offices in Manhattan, New York.
Edward E. Klein
Mr. Klein is an authority in the development, financing, sale, leasing and purchase of commercial and multi-family properties and specializes in negotiating commercial and residential leases, sale-leaseback transactions, joint venture and partnership agreements, tax investments, zoning and land use issues and commercial real estate transactional litigation. He is also an expert in facilitating financing for clients.
With Jay B. Solomon and Mel Urbach, Mr. Klein conducts seminars on commercial real estate issues for property owners and management firms. They also conduct seminars on restitution claims for Holocaust victims. Mr. Klein serves on the attorney review board for the New York City Bar Association's Legal Referral Service and, despite his hectic professional schedule, has made giving back a priority in his life. For his philanthropic efforts, he has been honored by many nonprofit organizations, including Yeshiva Torah Temimah, Congregation Beth Jacob and the Center for Russian Return/Kehilas Moreshes Yaakov.
Jay B. Solomon
With his vast litigation experience, Mr. Solomon serves as the firm’s lead trial attorney and litigates a broad range of commercial and real estate cases, including property and contract disputes, landlord-tenant issues, tenant overcharge claims, foreclosures and corporate and partnership disputes.
Mr. Solomon was an associate of the Law Offices of Edward E. Klein before becoming a co-founder of Klein & Solomon in 1995. In 1999, Klein, Solomon & Urbach was formed to pursuer Holocaust restiutution claims. Mr. Solomon is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, where he is a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Civil Court Section, and is a member of the Association of Arbitrators, in conjunction with his volunteer work in the Civil Court of the City of New York, Small Claims Part, where he serves as an arbitrator.
